Sweet, delicious coffee. Not only does it have an incredible range of flavours and the potential to protect the environment, but it also wakes us up. Or at least, it seems to.
You see, caffeine bears similarities to adenosine, the chemical that keeps us awake – or sends us to sleep. But unlike adenosine, caffeine doesn’t give us energy. It just stops us from realising how tired we are.
