Ever wondered where coffee comes from and how it’s made? If so, you’re in luck. In this short animation, realcoffeeclub explains the cherry-to-cup journey in just 180 seconds.
How Is Coffee Grown & Processed?
Different coffee species, how coffee is grown, how it’s processed… this video explains it all.
It’s worth mentioning that the video recommends 3–4 days for fermenting washed coffees, but 12–72 hours is more common. Over-fermenting can lead to unpleasant flavours in the coffee. And on the other hand, roasting will take longer than in the video.
However, if you want to know the basics of what coffee is, and how it ends up in your cup, this is an excellent introduction to the different stages. Get ready to learn more about your daily brew.

Of course, a video this short can’t cover everything. In addition to Robusta and Arabica (the two most-common species), Liberica and Excelsa also exist. Similarly, there’s more than just washed and dry/natural processing. As you learn more about coffee, you’ll also discover honey, pulped natural, and experimental methods.
