Burundi Coffee Cuppings & Roasting Workshops at WOC Budapest

Some of Europe’s top roasters join Café du Burundi to create a full schedule of cuppings and workshops at World of Coffee Budapest, Booth K16. Visitors will be able to meet Burundian producers, learn about The BARN Berlin’s approach to quality in roasting, discover insights into the East European coffee industry, and more.

Burundian Coffee

Burundi’s coffees are known for their sweet profile, heavy body, and fruity acidity. Washed and double washed coffee processing methods are common, both of which lead to a clean profile. The East African country also benefits from generally high altitudes and volcanic soil.

Event Schedule

All events will be held at the Café du Burundi booth K16 (co-hosted with Perfect Daily Grind). Café du Burundi invites all roasters, producers, baristas, and coffee professionals to attend.

Tuesday 13th

10:30: Café du Burundi
Cupping of juicy and clean coffees from across Burundi.
A Q grader and PhD coffee researcher will assist any beginners with the cupping process.

11:30–13:30: Cloud Picker Coffee Roasters, Dublin
Cloud Picker Coffee Roasters will take over the brew bar and serve their finest Burundian coffees.

 

14:00: Café du Burundi
Cupping of juicy and clean coffees from across Burundi.
A Q grader and PhD coffee researcher will assist any beginners with the cupping process.

15:00–17:00: Five Senses
Honey dew and cherry wine gums, a rich juicy body, and a sweet fruity finish? These are the flavour notes of just one of the three coffees from Burundi that Five Senses will be offering on filter.

Wednesday 14th

10:30: Café du Burundi
Cupping of juicy and clean coffees from across Burundi.
A Q grader and PhD coffee researcher will assist any beginners with the cupping process.

11:30–13:30: Diamond’s Roastery
This Slovakian roaster will be brewing up their finest Burundian coffee and providing insights into the emerging Eastern European specialty coffee market.

 

14:00: Café du Burundi
Cupping of juicy and clean coffees from across Burundi.
A Q grader and PhD coffee researcher will assist any beginners with the cupping process.

15:00–17:00: Imperator
Alberto Polojac, owner of Imperator, a Trieste-based green coffee traders and SCA Italy Board Member, will be filter brewing their coffees.

Thursday 15th

10:30: Café du Burundi
Cupping of juicy and clean coffees from across Burundi.
A Q grader and PhD coffee researcher will assist any beginners with the cupping process.

11:30–13:30: BARN
The BARN Berlin are hosting an “Approach to Quality & Roasting” workshop. In the two-hour event, the Barn will outline the flavours and qualities they look for, and what they do with their coffee beans.

14:00: Café du Burundi
Cupping of juicy and clean coffees from across Burundi.
A Q grader and PhD coffee researcher will assist any beginners with the cupping process.

15:00–16:00: Kafferostare Per Nordby
Known for their transparent relationship-based model, Kafferostare of Göteborg, Sweden will be brewing coffee alongside Burundian coffee farmers.
